Updating to sp3

I am planning on reinstalling a XP SP3 machine at some point.

Since i assume 'windows update' will no longer work does anyone know if its possible to download/save all the updates since SP3 was released?

When a computer is PXE booting during the time it is showing loading drivers on the screen this is really taking a long time.

I went back into the Win PE and removed all the drivers I had added in SP2 but that didn't seem to help.

When using a graphical interface, start the Ya ST Online Update or the updater applet. Either burn it to a DVD or prepare a network installation source as described in Section 14.2, Setting Up the Server Holding the Installation Sources. The easiest way to find the URL is having a local mirror, ideally provided by a local SMT server.

On the command line, run the following commands (the last command needs to be run twice): Reboot the system if needed. As an alternative to the Online Migration you may also update your system by booting from an installation source—either a DVD or a network installation source. After the repository is mirrored on SMT, find the repositories via pointing your browser to . If you have staging enabled, you can also browse the staged repositories.

Furthermore, updates can be performed via servers hosting Subscription Management Tool (SMT) or SUSE Manager.

In my case, this debugging information proved critical.

A Microsoft technician responded to my plea for help well within their 24 hour goal.

In fact the update procedure is very simple, straight-forward and (in most cases) self-explaining.

Just pick the method that suits your needs best and start with it..
